As Thursday night approaches I do as many of you do and keep my eye on the weather, which has left many of us very wet the last week, however the rain held off up on the hill allowing us to get in some exciting racing for the second Thursday night event.  Not the crowd I expected to see but I am sure with the clouds over head and the chill in the air many people felt it would be a wash and stayed home.  Well those of us with racing running through our bloods were there with the umbrellas at reach and sweatshirts on most of the night.

Flying Tigers qualifying started out the night with 3 no caution heats, where at least several times in each heat the guys decided to take the corners 3 wide showing off their impressive driving skills and keeping the cars under control.  The Tiger "B" feature was a bit more interesting, with a caution on lap2 then a second right after.  The #80 Pete Ainsworth losing pieces of his car and having to restart at the back of the pack trying to make his way into the feature, he managed to make it to finish in the top 10.  The feature once again showed us the excellent skills and experience of the Tiger drivers, leaving #86 Sean McCarthy, #5 Dan Eastman, #1 Scott Coburn on the Pepsi score board.  Congratulations to Sean on his first ever win.

The Street Stock qualifying was run with limited cautions as well, heat 2 had one leaving #7 Logan Blacklock and #29 Gary Mullen iin the wall in turn 1.  The 25 lap feature left us once again with a first time winner, #73 Vern Woodward, #20 David Greensilt, and #34 Tim Campbell all took their spot on the podium for the night.

All of our night is made when we see the Power Shift Junkyard Warriors come on the back stretch and we know it's going to be full of adventure and last night was no exception.  In heat 1 we had #2 Brad Lafountain over on his roof in turn 4 causing the red flag to be thrown for the only time during the night then ending his show with a giant smoke cloud filling the sky.  The Warriors got their night to shine last night having their feature moved from dead last to running right after the Late Models.  Lamoille County residents #43 Jamie Davis takes the checkered flag again for the second time this year (his car won the "Media Madness" race as well), #19 Neal Foster, and #03 Scott Weston finish off the top 3.  Congratulations to the Power Shift driver #30 Mike Gay for coming from the back to finish 5th for the night.

Only 21 Late Models, where is everyone??  I am sure more will be in attendance for next weeks 100 lap Govenor's Cup.  Almost a perfect green flag all night all around for "the big guys" 3 clean heats, a clean semi, and 48 of 50 laps in the feature.  Cris Michaud #3 took the early lead to break away thinking he didn't have to even look back until out of no where (well 15th starting position) here comes the #7 of Eric Williams.  The gap was pretty large between the leader and second place, finally on lap 48 the yellow is thrown, the cars are realigned, but don't get a lap in before the yellow is out again.  Back to green flag racing 2 laps to go and it could have gone either way.  Michaud and Williams put on a good show up front.  Michaud edges ahead by half a car length to hold onto first with Williams finishing in second and third going to #48 Robbie Crouch.  Congratulations to Michaud on his first checkered flag in 2 years, and to Williams to go from 15th to 2nd in 28 laps.  I also want to thank all the lapped cars for going to the back during the realign.

Next week we will all be in for a treat if racing like this is what we have to look forward to.  Will Williams hold on and win the cup for a 3rd year in a row, he showed us tonight he's got a fast car and it's a good possibillity, or will someone else take over the title and the cup??  We'll all have to wait until next week to find out the answers.  See you next week at the Governor's Cup.
